Yesterday was a bit of a killer with 4 losing lays but I had been riding a big high and the strike rate was going through the roof so yesterday was on the cards so not unsurprising.

I hit two consecutive losing lays yesterday totalling £252 loss so I was struggling after that. But, getting back to a loss of just £38 was a job well done. The statistics always even out in the end. The good news is I've completely smashed the points needed for a free £35 from Betfair in the Cash To Rio promotion :) Cant argue with free money!

I'm off for a week in Malta at an ungodly hour tomorrow morning so I will not be posting for a week. But I have internet access and if time permits, I will be laying a few horses but probably wont update the blog until I am back.

Another losing lay yesterday at 14.50 BSP, my highest priced winner in the past 8 weeks. And then my last four selections were at the abandoned Warwick so not much chance to recoup the loss. Still, the £10 free bet from the Sky Bet Free Bet Club helped :) Daily average for May now £43.21

Hit a couple of losers today. They were certainly due as my strike rate had been creeping up to "incredible" tedrritory. And knowing that make the loss very easy to accept. And I had a lay not matched and that cost me £24 for profit; that was because the horse was drifting and the bot whacked in a lay bet at the current pink price 5.6 but the market was moving too quickly and it was never matched. I have now changed the bot settings to widen the tick value.

A few short fields today restricted my number of lays (I dont lay in fields less than 8) but with what was left I managed to avoid a loser...can't be bad. Broke throught the £1000 mark for the month, averaging £59.47 per day. Average BSP today was 6.34 and my total liability was just £860.

My best day in a long time.15 successful lays in a row. Average BSP's of 10.21 so this is not for the feint hearted. Max BSP this day was 22.0. My total liability today was £2,278.57, so if you are looking at ROI then £252.50 / £2,278.57 = 11%.

Of course, the downside is that I have gone 24 sucessful lays in a row, so a winner is on the cards any time now.

My strike rate at the moment is 91.1% which is about 1% higher than it should be. As I say, a couple of winners due soon.

But, another profitable day so stakes increased to £23.87 for prices under 7.0 :)

An inauspicious start to the month. When getting Boookie Bonuses, there are always qualifying bets taht lose a few quid in order to qualify for the free bets. Most of my bonus bets are on footy.

Dean's Gambling...here we go again!

Those of you that were looking at my previous blog will know that I have been trying many trading and gambling angles. I started by looking at Horse Trading the way that Caan Berry trades. I even spent £1,000 with a "so called" professional trader, well that was money down the pan. I also traded football and tennis, all with the same results, nice profits 4 or 5 days running then a losing day that wiped out the previous profit.

I have spent more money on trading than I have spent on some cars! So, enough is enough. I have to accept that trading isn't for everyone and one of those people is me.

But I am a bloody good gambler. So, going back to basics, and back to what I started out doing in racing, is laying horses to lose.

Back in the heady days of the mid naughties I began to develop a method of choosing horses unlikely to win races; horses to lay in the win market. In May of 2007 I was getting quite good. In November 2007 I had £100 in a Betfair account. By May 2008 it was a little over £3,500. In fact, I have a screenshot I took back in May 2008, it says 7 days but was 8 days, 2nd to 9th May:

So, what happened... well I started to complicate things.What I thought was making me better was. actually, making me worse! Oh, and dont ask what I was doing with Tennis, I dont recall, which is a real shame :).

So, last month I went back to basics. My betting bank had been severely depleted by trading, and I was not prepared to add from personal funds so it had to be rebuilt through gambling, though laying horses to lose and a few bookie bonus grabs. So, here's what has happened in the last couple of weeks...no point in going back too far, just from 1st May. Oh, that will be in a few posts from now...I have 16 screenshots to make from Betfair :D
